The Big Plant Centre specialises in large, mature specimen shrubs. Generally we stock shrubs grown in pots larger than 7 litre up to 70 litre, or over winter we also have root balled shrubs that have been grown in open fields.
We stock a wide range of different species some suitable for most gardens, including many unusual varieties.
Many of our customers who visit our centre for the first time are amazed at the range of varieties and sizes of shrubs that we have in stock!
We grow a wide range of the plants ourselves, whilst working with a small selection of other professional nurseries to offer the depth and range of plants available.
Planting services are available for those requiring assistance.
Delivery charges vary according to the size/ weight of the product and quantity.
For products up to 2kg we dispatch these by Royal Mail for between £2.50 and £4.99 per item.
Above 2kg but below 30kg we dispatch these by courier for £9.40 per item.
For heavier items or multiple items we use a pallet courier for the cost of £65, this is restricted to dimensions of 1.2m x 1m x 0.75m tall and 1 tonne.
All items with dimensions above this will go by non standard delivery and a quote will be necessary before dispatch. PLEASE ENQUIRE.
For local deliveries it may be more economic to phone for a quote.
Please note that we are unable to ship to Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, The Channel Islands, Isle of Man or any other destination not on the UK Mainland for our standard courier price.

Aucuba japonica Crotonifolia also known as spotted laurel. Many consider this to be the best variegated aucuba. It is large leafed and boldly spotted and generously blotched with gold. This is a female form and it may produce red berries if grown next to a male variety.

Cercis Canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’
A variety of eastern redbud, and one of the first cultivars to be named. It has beautiful purple foliage that lasts all summer. The rosy pink flower budsare produced on the naked branches in April/May. All of the Cercis Canadensis family are extremely hardy.

Cercis chinensis Don Egolf is a prolifically flowering release from the USA. Grows to 3m tall and 3m wide. In spring it is covered from stem to stem with vivid, rosy mauve flowers. This cultivar produces no seed. The slow growing compact habit makes it an excellent choice for the smaller garden.

Cercis Lavender Twist is an exceptional small characteristic weeping tree. It is very graceful and has a pendulous growth habit. It is an excellent focus plant. Mature height is 1.5 – 3+ m. Prefers well drained medium soils, does like water but definitely not standing in wet conditions. Very new cultivar, excellent heavy blooming tree on naked branches.
