Also known as the Strawberry Tree. A large evergreen standard that has small glossy deep green leaves. The mature bark is a rough texture and reddish brown. It produces clusters of small creamy white flowers similar to lily of the valley. These are followed by small roundish orange/red fruit in the autumn. Although the fruits are edible they aren't recommended.

- Position: Full sun or partial shade
- Soil: Any fertile, well drained but moist soil. Plant with ericaceous compost.

- Rate of Growth: Reasonably slow.

Generally pest and disease free. Can shed leaves in late spring early summer when temperature changes.
Feed with ericaceous liquid feed in late spring to enable the plant to put on early growth to replace any leaves shed.
