Cornus florida also known as the Eastern or Flowering dogwood can grow to 5 metres, however it is slow growing and may be pruned to keep it under control for the smaller garden. The greenish white flowers, which are up to 10cm in diameter, are borne in profusion in May/ June. Autumn leaf colours are in reds and violets. Not widely grown although it is not troublesome.
