Cornus florida Cherokee Chief also known as the Eastern or Flowering dogwood can grow to 5 metres, however it is slow growing and may be pruned to keep it under control for the smaller garden. The pink flowers, which are up to 10cm in diameter, are borne in profusion in May/ June. The bright green leaves give way to autumn leaf colours are in reds and violets. Not widely grown although it is not troublesome.
