Also known as Sea Buckthorn this tall spiny stemmed deciduous shrub can reach 3-6m in height. Despite its name this plant is native to areas such as the Alps and very hardy.
The silvery willow like leaves can reach 6cm long and orange berries in autumn add another interesting feature.
Thrives in most soils but prefers to be planted without humus rich composts or bark mulch.
