This product has carefully isolated naturally occuring fungus that encourages root growth in plants and aids the absorption of nutrients from the soil, reducing stress and the reduces the quantity of fertilisers required.
Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungus with added natural fertilisers for lawns
By laying turf or seeding along with rootgrow the grass is able to quickly establish a secondary root system that increases the amount of nutients and moisture available to the turf.
Pantiles highly recomends this product and use it for all our landscape work to ensure our client's new plants always thrive.
Greenkeepers and Turf Managers face increasing restrictions on the use of chemical and synthetic fertilisers. Mycorrhizal fungi is one of the few biological treatments that has rapidly become a viable solution to these problems.
Rootgrow is environmentally sound and eco-friendly as well as being cost effective and sustainable
PlantWorks have developed a unique product that contains our highly effective mycorrhizal fungi with carefully selected blend of natural bio stimulants and fertilisers.
Rootgrow Turf is suitable for all aspects of turf care including; sowing, turfing, top dressing, hydroseeding and even green roofing.
Good mycorrhizal colonisation in turf will confer many benefits some of the key advantages of treatment are listed below.
Improved rooting, growth, vitality, density and tillering
Can significantly reduce the need of irrigation and chemical fertilization by up to 60%
Helps protect turf from drought and snow mould
Increases resistance to erosion, maintains surface stability on slopes
Improves drainage at the same time as reducing leaching
Rootgrow turf Mycorrhizal fungi treatment
Rootgrow turf is a turf conditioner with four key components. Mycorrhizal fungi, zeolite, natural fertilisers and a unique moisture retaining mineral.
These four components ensure complete care of turf unlike that provided by any conventional fertiliser.
Improves turf rooting, growth, vitality, density and tillering.
Can significantly reduce the need of irrigation and chemical fertilisation.
Improves drought resistance.
Increases resistance to erosion and maintains surface stability on slopes.
Improves drainage at the same time as reducing leaching.
The most important part of any Mycorrhizal product is the quality of the Mycorrhizal inoculum. At the core of Rootgrow turf is the same blend of UK-origin isolates found in PlantWorks’ retail and professional products, a blend that recently received endorsement from the Royal Horticultural Society as ‘best horticultural practice.’ Taking our RHS-endorsed Mycorrhizal fungi mix and adding the carefully selected components has resulted in a product that provides a truly holistic and environmentally friendly approach to managing amenity turf. With proper care the Mycorrhizal fungi will reproduce and persist in the roots indefinitely.
Rootgrow Mycorrhizal fungi will confer the following benefits;
Earlier and stronger growth (2-4 weeks after treatment the Mycorrhizal fungi can increase the active root area of plants by up to 700 litres.)
Better uptake of fertilisers when applied after treatment (the network of Mycorrhizal fungi act like a net catching nutrients and preventing leaching.)
Increased uptake of obscure trace elements from the soil leading to increased plant health (the ultra fine fungal mycelium can unlock nutrients from the soil).
Better drought tolerance (due to the vast fungal root making best use of all available soil moisture).
Rootgrow and Rootgrow turf are made from a carefully selected blend of UK provenance species of Mycorrhizal fungi. The product is cultured, produced, packed and shipped from our facility in Kent, England.
Mycorrhizal fungi
Mycorrhizal fungi attach to roots and form an extensive network of fibres, increasing water and nutrient uptake. Improved nutrition leads to better turf health and growth. The extended root system also enhances surface stability, erosion resistance and turf density.
Zeolite
We grow our strains of Mycorrhizal fungi in a zeolite based substrate. Zeolite has beneficial properties when added to turf dressings. The open ‘honeycomb’ structure of the granules has a number of proven advantages which include improved moisture retention, reduced leaching, increased cation exchange capacity, reduced compaction and improved aeroporosity.
Natural Fertiliser
Rootgrow turf contains natural slow-release fertiliser which gradually supplies turf with nutrients throughout the whole season. It cannot be washed away by rainwater like many conventional chemical fertilisers that often dissolve and only stay in the soil for a few weeks. This component contains exclusively natural components – ground minerals and nutrient-rich natural ingredients. It is not harmful to the environment and doesn’t pollute groundwater.
Water-retaining component
A mixture of water-retaining natural materials that absorb water during irrigation and provide it to the turf when the surrounding soil dries out. This component saves water by reducing leaching, protecting the turf from drying out and helping to retain its rich colour.
Turf Foundation
Rootgrow turf will greatly assist establishment of new turf whether sowing or turfing. The nutrient components will support new shoots as the Mycorrhizal fungi establish a secondary root system for sustained growth and vitality.
The full benefits include;
Better establishment of turf.
Faster rooting and denser sward.
More even and uniform growth.
Better nutrition and richer colour.
Greater root mass.
Improved soil stability with greater resistance to erosion.
Prior to turfing, spread the product evenly on the prepared surface. If sowing we recommend that the soil surface is gently scarified, this helps ensure that the new roots come into contact with Mycorrhizal.
For Turfing;
Ornamental lawns or fairway 20g m² Sports or fine turf 50 – 100g m².
For sowing;
Ornamental lawns or fairway 20 – 50g m² Sports turf and fine grasses 50 – 100g m².
The higher dose rate is recommended for high traffic areas or golf/bowling greens.
Over seeding and repair
There are a number of reasons why areas of grass become patchy or show week growth. As Mycorrhizal fungi need a host plant, the chances are that the area for treatment will be deficient in active Mycorrhizal and nutrients. Mixing Rootgrow turf directly into your repair seed mix will re-dress this balance and encourage strong early growth with continued nutrient supply. Drought and environmental stress will be lessened as the grass recovers.
For sports or fine turf 30g m² General purpose 20g m²
Top Dressing
Rootgrow turf can be part of standard maintenance programme on all grass surfaces. Over time the structure of the soil and drought tolerance of the turf will greatly improve. Artificial fertiliser application and irrigation can be reduced by up to 60%.
The full benefits include;
Faster recovery after hollow tining.
More even and uniform growth.
Greater grass density with improved tillering.
Better nutrition and richer colour.
Greater root mass.
Increased drought tolerance.
Incorporate the product into your normal sand based top dressing or spread evenly at the recommended dose rate when solid or hollow tining.
Ornamental lawns or fairway 25g m² Sports or fine turf 50 – 100g m².
