Trachycarpus fortunei, also known as Chamarops excelsa or Chusan Palm is one of the hardiest of the palms available to us.
An upright growing palm tree which leaves a fibrous covering on the stem as the old leaves die.
The leaves are fan shaped with numerous pointed segments.
Once mature the tree may produce large panicles made up of small yellow flowers.
Mature trees can reach 15m and are a common sight at this height in southern counties.
